White ear lobes

Post by geoffmarston »

Hi - am new on this forum but wanted some advice i have 2 chickens - 1 Rhode Island Red and 1 Light Sussex whose ear lobes appear to be changing white / have a white crusty covering on them.
Is this normal. I have seen posts on other sites from 'normal', could be Favus or ear mites.
Any advice welcomed.
Tried to post picture using icon but just comes up (img).

Hi Geoff and welcome to PC. Sorry for the delay!

It's difficult to say what causes the crusty white covering of the earlobes in your chooks. Facial mange is one possibility. Here is a photo of an affected Pekin: https://thisnzlife.co.nz/make-hens-like/
