Yes - a must-watch for chicken lovers. It was mainly filmed here in Christchurch and features several members of the Christchurch Poultry, Bantam and Pigeon Club and their birds. It was filmed during tumultuous times here at the club and yes, feathers were not only ruffled ....

Pecking Order opens in cinemas around New Zealand on May 18th, 2017.

Excellent Movie. Last night I've been to the Premiere here in Christchurch and it was very well received. The movie gives quite a few insights into what some of the breeders do to get to the top - including the set-up of some very successful exhibitors. And then there is, of course, the drama of an old president hanging in there, not wanting to let go of the presidency.

The Christchurch Poultry, Bantam and Pigeon Club has organised a fundraising screening at Hoyts Riccarton on Sunday, May 21st, at 5pm. Tickets can be purchased by emailing info@poultryclub.co.nz for $15 each (normally $18).

The move Pecking Order screens in cinemas around the country from May 18, 2017.

Yay, I just looked at the little cinema near me and they'll be showing it starting on May 18. I was expecting to have to take a long drive into Auckland.. really looking forward to it :)

Yes, it looks like the smaller cinemas are keen to screen it while the bigger cinemas specialize in the blockbusters.

I hope you like it, Eae.

I'm going to make a day of it - I don't usually venture far from home during the day, but that will be lunch out in Matakana and the movie :)

What a good idea for a movie. My mother always claimed that there was more competition between parents along the sidelines (In any organization) than there was between the kids, so, not far fetched that the story line could be applied to any walk of life. He's right. It's about "us".

Glad to read the positive feedback :D :D

When you let a film crew into your life - or into your club - or both - you never know how people will be portrayed. I reckon the film shows it pretty much how it was. I was very surprised to see the set-ups of some of our members and how much effort they put into breeding the perfect bird. I can't compete with that :(

Yes they were quite elaborate surprised me. If I took it that seriously I could breed a few hundred nhb and Sicilian buttercups a season and make some really big advances might have to take it a bit more seriously. In a season or two now that I have 6-8 breeding hens nhb and 3 sicilian buttercups hens of reasonably good quality .

Same here ! I can't keep that many birds especially roosters. My neighbours would take me to court. But the more birds you breed the more choice you have to find a really good bird.
Made me have another good look at the birds I wanted to enter this year. :?
