They have to moult one more time to get their adult feathers.
I assume that would be in autumn but I'm not sure they stick around
for so long . It won't take much longer before they can fly.

Last update. They are fully independent now and fly around the property.
I think I got a duck and a drake. One has much more white on the wings
than the other and I think it's a hen. They learned to operate the automatic
feeders and I have the feeling that they will stick around for a while. :P

Yes it's not legal to keep native wildlife. These two are not kept in captivity.
They come and go as they please.

Awwww, that would be cool if they decide they do like your place as home. Well done for getting the happy couple together :)

What a great outcome.

Aren't paradise ducks known for not teaming up with their own if they have been raised by humans without a mate of their own kind?

Yes I've heard about that. I hope having two of them
will let them have a normal life. Time will tell but I'm
very optimistic. They might even decide to stay around
and breed on the property next year.

They did hang around for a bit after they started flying and would come back for a feed of grains.
But one day one duck took of for good and two weeks later the other one. They never came back.
