Hi from Whangarei

Postby afrowoman » Wed Oct 12, 2016 4:37 pm

Hi everyone. I'm in Whangarei and I have 7 chooks - an Araucana (so? ), a Wyandotte, two RIRS and 3 Leghorns. I also have 12 Guinea Fowl. The Guinea Fowl are such characters and I love them to bits! I had another Wyandotte with a wonky beak and she was my favourite but she died a while back :( since then I've discovered we have a fabulous avian vet here in Whangarei and he saved one of my Guinea Fowl. I can't recommend him enough! Kevin at Mill Road vets.

That sounds like a nice mix of birds !
Do you keep the Guinea Fowl for eggs or just for fun ?

Hi Afrowoman and welcome to PC :D

That's great that you have found a great bird vet. Would you consider listing him in our 'Vets who treat Chickens' thread?

Hello and thank you :)
Yes thanks I will. I'm so happy to have found an avian vet up here! I lost 3 birds - two guinea fowl and a hen before finding this vet :(

Sandra @Kamo vets also works with birds. She's been very good with ours.
One of almost everything, a veritable rainbow of chickens. And Project Motzle.

Thanks.
I've tried both...Kevin specialises in exotics and birds so I've personally found him to be the more knowledgeable when it comes to birds.
