Hello from the Waitakeres

Postby AdamH » Mon Aug 15, 2016 11:04 pm

Hi. Just joined last week.
This is our first foray into chook keeping and so far it's working out well.
We have a Rhode Island Red, Barred Rock and two old English Game bantams.
They all get on quite well but the RIR is definitely the boss even if the rock is a bit bigger.
I look forward to all the great tips!
Adam.

Hi Adam and welcome to the forum! It sounds like you have a nice wee selection of birds there, I hope they are laying you some eggs and giving you a few laughs along the way! Mine are the same that the biggest isn't the boss - in fact my smallest chicken is definitely the boos, which is quite funny to watch, but she maintains her position well even when I take her off to raise chicks for me - so funny :)
Pea (?), Martha (L Sussex), Bess (Australorp), Elsa (Orp), Petal (B'velder), Dottie (Sp Sussex), Olive (Welsummer), Peggy (W Leghorn), Gertie (SLW), Maureen & Doreen (NHB), Hazel & Tilly (SPW), Lilly & Ivy (Orps) and Silver Appleyard ducks!
