Best breed for eating

We are looking to raise chickens for meat and would love advice. What is the best breed for meat birds, what age can they be killed, are male and female birds both good for eating and everything else we need to know please :) :) :)

You can get the same type of chickens, you get at the supermarket. They take some where around the ten week mark. You can free range them etc, both male and female are good for eating. Can't remember the name but I think it is ross hobb. Someone will probably correct me. If you want to go down a slower route, you could try a heritage breed of chicken. Or ducks if you want to try something different and nice and quicker than heritage chickens

Yes, broilers are the fastest growing chickens but you can't breed them yourself. You have to buy in day-old chicks.

White Plymouth Rocks and Light Sussex make good meat breeds. All heavy heritage breed make good eating. Araucanas make surprisingly good eating, too.

Muscovies grow fast and big and then there are turkeys. The choice is yours.
