Just an update to those that may care:
the secretary of your local poultry club will be recieving in the next month or so a copy of a final draft of the new edition of the standard. So you can have a look a sneek peek before the anticipated print date, late summer-early autumn next year

Wowzers - that went for $102!! :o

And I see in the comments that the seller would have taken $55 as buy now - bet they're pleased someone bid and they had to let the aunction run!

You're probably all aware that the latest standard is now available,
after all the delays and re-proofs etc finally its here.
direct from PoultryNZ
http://www.poultrynz.com/index.php?main ... da6k3jpn34
or through the trade me listings
http://www.trademe.co.nz/books/rare-col ... 288187.htm

If you are not necessarily into showing, but are a breeder ,you should get one of these.
Poultry are different to other species of livestock which have breed associations, herd/flock books, registered pedigrees, formal heritage recording etc because they have none of these, they are generally flock bred, and bred to a standard (rather than individually recording each offspring with parent etc)
So they are standard bred, this is why the standard is important

I know its not a cheap book, but I will be fairly un apologetic to those that will complain about the price, because I know full well that these sorts of people have no idea of the time, effort and expense put into this latest edition that a small army of people have put in - up and down the country, all for the good of keeping a benchmark of quality for our poultry breeds and varieties in New Zealand.

It's a massive improvement on the 2nd edition, its a must have in my opinion.
