Hi all , we have a red ( Hampshire or Rhode Island) who has become really uncoordinated can't walk really wobbly. Her head shakes constantly when still and is thirsty constantly.
Been like this since Saturday morning (24hrs)
Does anyone have any ideas what's wrong .
Thanks in advance
Chris

Hi Chris and welcome to PC :D

Hens can have strokes and loose coordination. She could also have eaten something poisonous - or some scraps that contained alcohol. There probably is not much you can do for her apart from making sure she has a quiet place to sit down and wait it out.

You could also have a look at what your hens have access to. Nightshade berries can cause these symptoms. Basically everything that's pisonous to humans is poisonous to hens. Plus avocado is poisonous to hens. A sandwich with a bit of avocado isn't a problem but a bag of avocadoes that have gone off is. Also fermented scraps may contain alcohol - this can happen very quickly.

Rhubard leaves are very poisonous to them, too.
