Buff Sussex chick colour

What should a buff Sussex chick look like, this one hatched on Tuesday last week and is very white with white feathers coming in. It is definitely from a buff Sussex breeding group

Buff Sussex chicks are orangy yellow at hatching. What do the others look like or is this the only one?

This was the only one I had hatch. The wing feathers are very white that are coming through so far

Looks like an accident has happened or the egg was swapped by mistake because this chick will never grow into a Buff Sussex.

If you wait another week have a look whether there is a bit of black in its wing feathers (you don't see it during its first few days). It could still be a Light Sussex. Did you breed it yourself or did you buy in the eggs? In the latter case - what other breeds does the breeder have?

I got them in from a friend that just has buff sussex in a pen so I can be 100% sure that it has come from just them! I guess I will have to wait and see what it turns in to when it feathers up

Just an update on the sussex chick, he is still showing no sign of colour and seems to be huge!

He's not an albino so maybe the Buff Sussex birds carry recessive white?

ok - don't know how to post a photo!!! my Sussex chickens are now white - some have black coming thru on their tales - one has black coming thru on its neck - but they all (I thought it was dirty) BUFF colour on their wings ---- woe is me - so I guess these are not the pure Sussex chickens I thought they were going to be!
