Moar Turkey Pics

Turkeys are both awesome and horrendous. We have four white and one bronze, all hand-raised. They're awesome because they're so in your face, running around your legs whenever you're outside, chattering away at you.

They're less awesome because they insist on roosting on the deck rail and as we all know, where birds roost they poop. And they don't always sit this way around...

Their ultimate destination is the oven. But these two seem to prefer the BBQ! Self BBQing turkeys:

And as I posted this, they're sat on the deck rail peering into my office at me! In Your Face!

LOL - and there's why 'my' turkeys are fully enclosed! (I was boarding some turkeys short term and hatched some of the eggs while they were here)
they're funny things aren't they!

They are absolutely FULL of character. Will definitely miss this lot when they go. I won't miss the poop on the front door mat one bit though.

I agree about the poop on the deck!!! And they have distinctive curly poos! We clipped the wings of ours but the 2 girls can still fly up. Luckily now they have chicks and are rather grounded due to their motherly duties.
I could never eat my 2 turkey hens! They are really lovely, gentle girls. But the turkey gobbler - that is another story - he is aggressive and generally not much use at all, except to produce chicks. He is on thin ice at the moment.................................

Love it how the dangerous end is angled *over* the seat rather than off the back

Just a silly spelling of "More" - I blame it on my computer gamer background. :)

gulp - I have 4 in an enclosed run, I'm just contemplating moving them to an open run, hoping they'll view it as their base and stay close in there (its sort of in the middle of the orchard)
not sure I want to be greeted by that picture in the morning!
we've also got wild turkeys that stroll up and down the road - I'm hoping my white turkeys don't join them, they'll sort of stick out!

I got a text the other morning just after the other half left for work saying the turkeys had followed his car 200m down the driveway. :/ At least they're trained to follow me when I'm carrying a food bucket... Retrieving turkeys from the far end of the property was not on my TODO list that morning.

They don't normally leave the chick mountain area. I have no idea what possessed them to follow the car.
