so i've been wanting to get some new chicks for a while, as my incubations thus far have been unsuccessful....so got this little hen from izzy in milton (my mums aunt??? i think) free :lol: :lol: :lol:

my broody in the next cage doesnt think so....bristled up a bit when i put the new hen in.....but i think that this incubation is bust anyway, she managed to escape somehow and the eggs went cold for about 6 hours :( :(

meaning colour wise...would they be blue, black, splash, mottled???? i've not had bantams before, or pekins, so my new hen is going to get a friend :D :D

pekins are just great wee things. they are always talking away i just love my wee mottle girl willow she has real personality

Blue x Black = 50% Blue, 50% Black

Or that's how the maths goes - in reality I'm sure it wouldn't be quite so straightfirward, and I guess there may be other genes playing around in there....

black x spalsh? is all blue???
blue x blue is 25%black, 50% blue and 25%splash?


can you get splash..or is it mottle in this case :? :? :? :?

I reckon you should try and get a blue roo cos then you can get all the different colours down the line - EXCITING!! :D

so does a black pekin from a blue father and black mother still count as a purebred black....or not???
